Privacy Policy

We collect the personal information you provide when you place an order, create an account, subscribe to our newsletter or contact us, including your name, contact details, delivery address and, where you choose to share it, information about your skin. We also collect transaction data when you place an order, and a record of the choices you make at checkout, including whether you have consented to marketing.

Your information is used to:

• Process and fulfil your orders
• Communicate with you about your order or enquiry
• Recommend products suited to your skin concerns
• Send you marketing, but only where you have opted in
• Improve our website, product range and service
• Comply with legal and regulatory requirements

Under the GDPR, we rely on the performance of our contract with you to process and deliver your order, on your consent for marketing, on our legitimate interests to improve our service and prevent fraud, and on legal obligation to keep records where the law requires it. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

We only send you marketing if you have actively opted in. The consent box at checkout is never pre-ticked and is completely separate from your order, so you can complete your purchase without agreeing to receive marketing. We do not make marketing consent a condition of buying from us.

When you tick the box, we record your consent together with the date and time you gave it, so that we are able to demonstrate your consent if we are ever asked to.

If you opt in, we may contact you by email about new products, offers and skincare advice. You can withdraw your consent at any time by:

• clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email we send you
• emailing us at hello@sk1n.com
• calling us on 079 735 2663

Withdrawing your consent is free and will not affect your ability to shop with us or the service you receive. Under POPIA, we may only send you direct marketing by electronic communication where you are an existing customer or have opted in, and you may object to it at any time.

Your information is shared only with the service providers involved in fulfilling your order, such as our courier partner and our payment processor, and as required by law. We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share it with anyone else for their own marketing.

Some of these providers may process your information outside South Africa. Where information is transferred across borders, we require the recipient to protect it to a standard comparable to POPIA, and for visitors from the EU or UK we put appropriate safeguards in place as required by the GDPR.

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it. Order and transaction records are kept for the period required by South African tax and consumer law. A record of your marketing consent is kept until you withdraw it, and for a short period afterwards so that we can show we honoured your withdrawal. Once information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor and are never stored on our systems.

You have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you
• ask us to correct or update information that is inaccurate or incomplete
• ask us to delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep
• object to processing, including to direct marketing
• withdraw consent you have given, such as marketing consent
• ask us to restrict processing or to port your information (EU and UK visitors)

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforeg.org.za. If you are in the EU or the UK, you may complain to your local supervisory authority instead.

Our website and products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We use cookies to improve your browsing experience and to keep your cart working while you shop. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time, although parts of the website may not work as intended if you do.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. If we make a material change to the way we use your information, we will notify you.
